  Karkat paced the livingroom impatiently back and forth. He once again glanced at the clock. "Where is he?" he growled to himself. It was nearly midnight and he still wasn't home.
  After ten minutes of pacing, he got a text.
  sorry i forgot to tell you. i'm not going to be home till really late.
  Karkat rolled his eyes. That would've been nice to know a few hours ago. He had classes in the morning and staying up this late is going to kill him. He's not going to have any energy whatsoever. Maybe he would just call in sick tomorrow.
  He sighed and headed towards the bedroom, crawling into the bed. After a while of tossing and turning, he fell asleep.

  John returned home from work around three. The guy who was suppose to come in never did, so he ended up working two shifts. Now, all he wanted to do was go to bed. He had a feeling it was going to be a while. The human knew that he was probably going to get an earful from Karkat, telling him how he needs to learn to tell him these things sooner.
  When John entered the bedroom, the lights were off. It surprised him a bit.
  He changed into pajamas and crawled into bed. The human leaned over to Karkat's side and kissed his temple. He yawned and fell back asleep on his side of the bed.
  
  A few moments later, when he was sure John was asleep, Karkat sat up and looked over at the sleeping male. "'Night, fuckass," he mumbled, then laid back down to sleep with a small smile on his face.
